Benedictine hires new vice president of admissions

Veteran educator Edward G. Robinson has been named vice president of admissions and financial aid at Benedictine University in Lisle.

In his new role, Robinson, who starts May 1, will oversee undergraduate recruiting and enrollment functions.

Robinson has more than 20 years of higher education experience in student affairs and enrollment services. He currently is executive dean of student affairs at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, Wisconsin, where he is responsible for providing operational oversight in admissions, advising, registration and records management, financial aid, student development, and budgeting and enrollment management.

His achievements include reducing the timeline for admissions acknowledgments and student financial aid processing, and implementing a financial wellness/counseling program that helped more students take advantage of financial aid.

He also spearheaded the development of a new Student Success Center that optimized testing and tutoring for students and a Career Professional Development Office, providing soft skills training for students to meet the needs of area employers.

Prior to his tenure at Blackhawk, he was the chief executive officer of College Connections Inc. in Overland Park, Kansas, a consulting firm providing marketing, recruitment and retention plans and programs for college recruiters; dean of students at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas; and director of enrollment services and assistant director of student services at Kent State University in Ashtabula, Ohio.

"Edward brings a passion for admissions and a motivational spirit to strengthen our new student enrollment," Benedictine President Michael S. Brophy said.
