Northlake man charged with sexually assaulting Palatine girl

A Northlake man was ordered held on $2 million bail Monday on charges he sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl Sunday in Palatine.

Luis Sandoval, 28, is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, a non-probationable felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Sandoval entered the girl's bedroom where she slept with another child and sexually assaulted her. Soon after, a woman walked into the room, said Cook County assistant state's attorney Maureen McGee. After the girl told the woman what happened, the woman slapped Sandoval and left the room with him, McGee said.

The girl's mother awoke and went into the room where the girl was crying. The girl told her mother about the assault. The mother called 911 and took her daughter to an emergency room, according to McGee.

Later, the girl told authorities the abuse began a year earlier and happened every time Sandoval visited her family's home, McGee said.

Sandoval next appears in court on April 20.
