Baseball: Wheaton North wins 1st game
Wheaton North 3, Glenbrook South 2:
The Falcons (1-4) notched their first win by breaking out to a 3-0 fifth-inning lead. Andrew Nelson and Cooper Burns drove in runs. Jon Vesevick and Nelson combined on the mound.
Naperville Central 8, Plainfield North 1:
Winning pitcher Tyler Brinker struck out two, walked none and scattered 4 hits for the Redhawks (4-1). Tommy Carlson and Connor Gurnik both went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI at the top of the lineup. Naperville Central scored twice in the third inning and three times in the fourth.
Willowbrook 10, Andrew 9:
Trailing 9-1 in the middle of the sixth inning, the Warriors (7-0) rallied with 2 runs in the bottom of the sixth and 7 runs in the seventh to stay unbeaten. Dan Gusel's two-out double scored J.T. Ceh with the game-winning run. Alec Michaelson went 3-for-4 while Kyle Ferguson and M.J. Ranieri each drove in 2 runs. Scott Kohrt was the winning pitcher in relief.
Neuqua Valley 14, Franklin County, Tenn. 0:
The Wildcats (5-0) wrapped up an unbeaten trip to Tennessee with a five-inning victory. James Gargano, Ryan Wheeler, Jake Wenz and Drew O'Toole combined for 6 hits and 9 RBI in support of winning pitcher Kieran Ogea.
Lake Park 7, Prospect 3:
The Lancers (2-1) scored in each of the first four innings while building a 5-0 lead. Anthony DeConcilis went 4-for-5 with a double, homer and 2 RBI. Paul Beverly went 3-for-4 while Zach Aehlert, who drove in 2 runs, and Sean Cummins added 2 hits. A.J. Dallmann picked up the win.
Waubonsie Valley 5, Lincoln-Way East 3:
Luke Gregorio's RBI double scored Eric Esch with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth inning for the victorious Warriors (4-1). Gregorio went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI while Zach Laws went 2-for-3. Will Isdell was the winning pitcher in relief.
Conant 6, Glenbard North 5:
After scoring 3 runs in the top of the seventh to rally for a 5-4 lead, the Panthers (4-2) fell when Conant scored twice in the bottom of the seventh. Zach Heck went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI while Zach Bachara also drove in 2 runs. Anthony Sottile, Anthony Ferreri and Shashwanth Saravanan all had 2 hits for Glenbard North.
