District 211 must serve all students

School board members volunteer to serve the community, but foremost they are elected to ensure that the school district serves all students.

For the upcoming District 211 school board election, it is obvious that the experienced board members in LeFevre, Klimkowicz and Yung are committed to services. They have faithfully served the students and community members of District 211 schools, committed countless hours of service to student events, and they all have deep experience.

The slate of candidates running against them is driven by a political agenda. Their true agenda and what we will get from them as a slate was plainly on display at a recent candidate forum when Ralph Bonatz blatantly and unkindly cut off a student who had asked a reasonable question about the slate's potential impact on student opportunities. His response was horrendous and it is indicative of their self-serving political agenda to play to their crowd in the audience.

The slate simply fails in the most fundamental understanding that school districts exist to serve students first and always.

Remember that District 211 serves all students every day, 365 days a year. Remember those numbers: 365. I will be voting for candidates #3 LeFevre, #6 Yung and #5 Klimkowicz - true community servants centered on students and sustaining extraordinary opportunities that have made District 211 exceptional for all students.
