Mumps case confirmed at South Elgin's Kenyon Woods Middle School

One case of mumps has been confirmed at Kenyon Woods Middle School in South Elgin, Elgin Area School District U-46 spokeswoman Mary Fergus said Tuesday.

U-46 and Kane County Department of Health officials notified parents about 5 p.m. Friday, students' last day of class before spring break. Students will return April 3.

U-46 officials advised parents to contact their physicians with any questions.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reports five confirmed cases of the mumps in Kane County.

Kane County Health Department officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
