The right experience for Dist. 121 board

I'd like to put forward a recommendation for Paul Schulz, a candidate for Warren Township High School Board Dist. 121.

My husband and I have lived in Gurnee for nearly 25 years and have two sons who have gone through Warren Township High School. Their experiences have been terrific. However, I am concerned about the experiences of the children that have yet to come through the school, given the budget challenges in the state of Illinois, as well as the continuing future declines in enrollment at Warren Township resulting from the aging of a population that boomed over a decade ago.

We have known Paul and his family for over five years. The Schulz family has been intimately involved in all levels of the school system, having raised four children in the community. Paul, his wife Bonnie and their children were extremely active at all levels including the deep involvement and support of multiple sports and clubs. Paul understands intimately how the school operates, and can take this understanding as a foundation for his role on the school board.

In addition, Paul's business and finance acumen is exactly what is needed as the school district will continue to face greater challenges resulting from declining funding. Many tough choices will need to be made. Paul's budgeting and financial experience, along with his business experience, gives him the skills required to make those tough choices.

Finally, Paul's wife started an extremely successful boutique in the area just two years ago. From startup to expansion, Paul has supported this successful, not-so-small business, to ensure its fiscal strength, guaranteeing that the business has the capital required for continued growth.
