Des Plaines gas station robbed with machete

A machete-wielding man robbed a Des Plaines gas station Monday morning before fleeing the scene with a female accomplice.

Reports indicate police responded to a gas station on the 1200 block of Lee Street, near the corner of Algonquin Road, just after 8 a.m. By that time, the robber had left with an unreported amount of cash in a silver, 4-door Honda Civic. The vehicle was last seen traveling south.

The thief was described as white man, age 25, wearing a dark coat and carrying a knife, which was possibly a machete. His female accomplice was described as white and age 25.
