Candidate will carry out will of people

I'm writing in support of Karen McCannon for Sugar Grove Village Trustee. You have probably heard of Karen McCannon, even if you don't know her personally.

Karen has lived and been active in our village for about 50 years. A list of all the things that Karen has done would make this letter way too long. I'll mention just a few things, to highlight her long and varied involvement in our community.

She is currently on our Community Building's advisory committee. She has worked with Mrs. Santa's Sweet Shop at our Holiday in the Grove and at Between Friends Food Pantry. Recently, she was responsible for the Christmas lights on the tree at Cross St. and Rte. 47. About 13 years ago, Karen decided that it was time to bring back the Fourth of July children's parade, which had taken place in the past, but which had not been held for a while. She has been organizing and leading that parade now for the past 13 years as the well-known and well-loved Jo Jo the Clown. Karen was instrumental with others in constructing our community Pavilion located north of John Shields School. These activities, and the many others in which Karen has been involved, resulted in Karen's being named our Citizen of the Year for 2008.

Karen will make an excellent trustee for our village. The most important responsibility of a trustee is to know and carry out the will of the people. No one knows our community better than Karen, and I know that Karen will see that our community concerns are appropriately addressed. Her knowledge of the community, willingness to serve and follow the will of the public, and genuine love for Sugar Grove make her an ideal candidate for the position of village trustee.
