Leader who makes the tough decisions

I am a village trustee in South Elgin, and I am proud to support Steve Ward for re-election as village president of South Elgin.

I have served on the village board with Steve for over 10 years. Steve Ward has committed himself to making South Elgin safe and a great place to raise a family. Through Steve's leadership, South Elgin has achieved the highest municipal bond rating for a community of our size, South Elgin has over a 50 percent fund balance in savings, and through refinancing of bonds, the citizens of South Elgin will save over $4.7 million In addition, Steve spearheaded the construction and funding of a new, award winning pubic works building without raising municipal taxes.

Steve Ward is an honest, caring and thoughtful leader. He is open to the opinions of board and staff members. Staff members are held to the highest standards of accountability. His other accomplishments include working to open the new inclusive playground at SEBA Park despite the failure of the State of Illinois to make grant payments, working with Kane County to purchase and re-build the bike path along the riverfront, and working to bring a Gail Borden Library branch to South Elgin. In the future, Steve's plans include continued rebuilding of village roads and infrastructure, and the continued beautification and development of the downtown and riverfront areas. Through Steve's implementation of fiscal responsibility, South Elgin boasts the lowest municipal tax rate among surrounding communities.

Steve is a committed leader who has shown the ability to make tough and thorough decisions that benefit all of the citizens of South Elgin.
