'Old friends' will be missed

Forget Trump. Really bad news: That Hackney's on Rand Rd. is closing, and that nearby El Jardin is history. I learned to love Hackney's burgers ages ago when I discovered the Hackney's on Harms Road. The signature onion rings and the burgers cooked just right are beyond yummy. When my husband and I moved to the NW 'burbs several years ago, I was delighted to discover that a Hackney's was nearby. My husband, new to this area, immediately liked the place.

We also are fans of El Jardin, on Ela near Rand. It had good food and friendly servers. We've enjoyed several meals there and certainly expected to return.

Though other Hackney's restaurants exist in Chicagoland, and other places have menus similar to El Jardin, we're sorry to see them go. Like a good friend, it takes a while, I believe, to be comfortable with a restaurant. These two were enjoyable places to have a tasty meal.
