Serial shoplifter found guilty in DuPage County

Pedestrian struck by train in Elgin

An outbound Metra train on the Milwaukee District West Line struck and killed a pedestrian in Elgin during last night's rush hour, Metra officials say. Train No. 2237 scheduled to arrive at Big Timber Road at 6:27 p.m. struck the pedestrian near Route 31 and Wing Street after leaving the Elgin station, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said. Full story.

A 20-year-old Aurora man has been indicted on a charge of attempted murder and multiple gun crimes after he fired bullets into a passing vehicle in Aurora in 2015, the Kane County state's attorney's office said yesterday. Full story.

New IDs foster communication between drivers with disabilities, police

"My medical condition may impair my ability to communicate with others, especially with strangers or in stressful situations," reads the introduction on a new identification card designed to ease interactions between police and people with disabilities. Called the "Person with a Disability Wallet Card," the new form of identification is available free from any secretary of state's driver services facility. Full story.

Rondo, Mirotic step up to help Bulls end losing streak

A lineup change and a card game helped the Bulls snap their five-game losing streak Monday. Rajon Rondo returned to the starting lineup for the first time since Dec. 30 and provided a spark. Nikola Mirotic got back on the floor after sitting out the previous three games and led the Bulls with 24 points. It all led to a 115-109 victory at Charlotte.
