Breakfast/lunch restaurant coming to Mount Prospect

The owner of Emerson's Ale House in Mount Prospect said he's opening another restaurant in the village's downtown.

George Tselos said his new concept is a breakfast and lunch restaurant called HoneyButter at 106 W. Northwest Hwy. The location was occupied by CravePizza, which closed late last year.

Tselos said he secured the lease in January and has been doing some remodeling. He and business partner Peter Korbos hope to open in early April.

"I have always wanted to open a breakfast/lunch place," Tselos said. "Once I had Emerson's for a while, I realized that the only place I wanted to open is in Mount Prospect. So I was kind of waiting for an opportunity to open up. When Crave closed, that's when I jumped on it."

Tselos said the new restaurant's proximity to Emerson's Ale House was a "huge draw," and the availability of parking and location along busy Northwest Highway are advantages.

"There are a lot of apartment buildings, condos. There is a huge population within a (one-to-three-mile) radius of the restaurant," Tselos said.

The space, which is just under 3,000 square feet, will include an enclosed patio he plans to use nine months a year.

In a message on CravePizza's Facebook page, owners said the business faced the expiration of its five-year lease and the decision whether to renew for another five years. The message said that was not something owners could do and "still maintain the same quality to our customers due to various reasons. Time, family constraints, etc."
