Two cats were rescued from a house fire on the 1400 block of Steeplechase Road in Bartlett that caused an estimated $150,000 damage to the structure and another $150,000 to its contents.

Family members were not at home when the Bartlett Fire Protection District received the call at 3:36 p.m. Saturday. Crews were on the scene at 3:41 p.m. and the fire was declared under control at 4:07 p.m., officials said.

The fire began in the first-floor family room, but the cause was not yet determined Monday. The house is not yet habitable.

The two cats were found and rescued during the primary search of the home.

Bartlett firefighters were assisted by those from Streamwood, Hanover Park and West Chicago.
