Mount Prospect police release photos from armed robbery

The Mount Prospect Police Department on Friday released photos of the men authorities believe robbed the MetroPCS store at 1727 W. Algonquin Road on March 4.

According to police, a man entered the store about 1:45 p.m. and began speaking with an employee. While the employee was distracted, another man entered the store, locked the front door and put on a black mask to cover his face.

The first man then displayed a handgun to the employee and demanded iPhones. After the employee informed the robbers that there were no iPhones in the store, the second man took a new Samsung Galaxy S7 out of a safe. The first man took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

The thieves fled through the rear door of the business to a waiting vehicle.

The first man is described as black, 23 to 25 years old, 5'6" and 180 to 190 lbs. He was wearing an orange hooded jacket with gray and green sections, blue jeans, a dark baseball cap, Nike shoes and dark square sunglasses.

The second man is described as a black, 23 to 25 years old, 5'10" and 150 lbs. His hair was in short brown dreadlocks, and he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and dark shoes.

The getaway vehicle is described as a dark Hyundai Sonata with only the letters O and T remaining on the trunk lid. This vehicle was being driven by a third person. The license plate on the car was reported stolen before to the robbery.
