Round Lake Beach fugitive captured

A 23-year-old Round Lake Beach man wanted in connection with felony drug charges was captured Tuesday by the Lake County Sheriff's Office Warrants Team and the U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, authorities said.

Fabian Ponce, of the 1300 block of North Park Drive, is a documented street gang member who had an active $300,000 failure to appear arrest warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance stemming from a Round Lake Beach police investigation, according to the sheriff's office.

Ponce also is on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections in connection with a felony domestic battery conviction, state records show.

Authorities located Ponce Tuesday at a home in the 200 block of East Clarendon Drive in Round Lake Beach, sheriff's police said. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held at the Lake County jail on $300,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court March 14.
