Fourth suspect charged in Round Lake Beach shooting

A fourth suspect is facing a felony charge in connection with the shooting of a teenage bystander Monday night in Round Lake Beach, police announced Thursday.

Evaristo D. Vasquez-Perez, 19, of the 900 Block of Cedar Lake Road in Round Lake Beach, is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm stemming from the shooting, which left a 15-year-old boy recovering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

Authorities say Vasquez-Perez was driving a vehicle involved in the shooting, which occurred about 9:40 p.m. Monday, in the 400 block of Meadow Green Lane. Officials said the shooting came after an argument among three men over a woman. The victim was not involved in the dispute, police said.

Vasquez-Perez was arrested about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, when he was found by Gurnee police in an unrelated vehicle that had been stopped for having only one headlight, police said.

Also charged in the shooting are Jose J. Herrera Jr. and Adrian Robledo Garcia, both 19 and of 200 block of Geneva Terrace in Round Lake Beach, and 18-year-old Juan A. Nunez, of the 1600 block of Turnbull Drive in Round Lake Beach. They're charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm, Round Lake Beach police said.
