Don't be fooled in Dist. 211

In a little less than six weeks, voters in District 211 will make a critical choice for our neighborhood schools, electing three school board members. More important than the individuals running, voters will decide whether to focus on maintaining high quality schools, with student-focused programs and overall excellence or pursue ideological campaigns that result in chaos and embarrassment for the district. The choice cannot be more clear.

Three of the candidates, Anna Klimkowicz, Bob LeFevre and Ed Yung, previously served on the D211 BOE, successfully maintaining high quality schools, while reducing debt and acting in a fiscally responsible fashion.

Their opponents comprise a slate with zero experience in public education, and are backed by a group that already has cost the district tens of thousands of dollars in unnecessary litigation, have wreaked havoc in our school district, and have a vision of never-ending chaos, expense and court battles.

In the last year and a half, many of the headlines about District 211 did not focus on our good neighborhood schools, but on a manufactured controversy that actually harms our students. It is time to put a stop to the chaos.

Leaders of our neighborhood schools should put children - all children - first.

The Parents for Privacy group repeatedly acts cruelly toward children, including mis-gendering and publicly outing them by name at board meetings. This does not suggest an ability to put aside ideology in order to advance the interests of all our children.

Please do not be fooled by the well-funded marketing and campaign strategies of the P4P slate. As a resident of District 211, and a person who has worked in public education for the past 17 years, I implore you to get out and vote LeFevre, Klimkowicz and Yung on April 4.

The quality and stability of our children's future educational experience depends on it.
