Report: Gurnee student died from alcohol toxicity
A Gurnee woman attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, died from complications of alcohol consumption last month, according to a published report.
Erica Buschick, 18, died on Jan. 20. The Journal-News in Butler County, Ohio, reported her blood-alcohol level was .347, more than four times the legal driving limit of .08.
Her blood also tested positive for marijuana and an antidepressant, according to the Journal-News. The report cited the Butler County coroner's office in stating she died from complications of acute ethanol toxicity.
Buschick was found unresponsive by her roommate in a campus dormitory, a university spokeswoman said. The roommate called police, but Buschick couldn't be revived.
The graduate of Warren Township High School in Gurnee had been pursuing a degree in special education. She was member of Warren's National Honor Society.
