Badini scores twice as Steel beat Gamblers

Jack Badini broke a 1-1 tie with under two minutes remaining, then added an empty-netter, as the Chicago Steel defeated the Green Bay Gamblers 3-1 Friday at Fox Valley Ice Arena. Ales Stezka notched 33 saves to record his fourth win against the Gamblers this season.

The Steel led 1-0 late before Green Bay tied the game with just three and a half minutes remaining, but Chicago regained the lead thanks to a highlight-reel sequence started by a turnover forced by captain Marc Johnstone. Reggie Lutz continued the play with a cross-ice feed to Badini, who fired the game-winner with 1:42 remaining.

Badini has now recorded a team-leading 23 goals this season, the fourth-most among USHL players, with markers in each of Chicago's past three games. Chicago improved to 4-1-0-0 this season against the Gamblers, with the final meeting scheduled for Saturday night at Resch Center in Green Bay.
