Man convicted in Algonquin woman's overdose death

A 36-year-old Zion man has been sentenced for the overdose death of a 21-year-old Algonquin woman two years ago.

McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick D. Kenneally announced Friday that James Linder received a 28-year sentence after being convicted of drug-induced homicide.

Danielle Barzyk was in physical distress when she was brought to a parking lot outside the Algonquin police station at 1:30 a.m. Jan. 31, 2015. Emergency responders found the victim unconscious, and she later died at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

Linder sold the heroin that caused Barzyk's death.
