Two dead after head-on collision in West Chicago

Two people were killed and a 10-year-old boy and a relative are in the hospital after an apparent head-on collision Friday evening on Fabyan Parkway near Route 38 in West Chicago.

The West Chicago Fire Protection District said in a release the crash was reported at 4:59 p.m. and firefighters found two vehicles involved, each carrying two passengers. One vehicle was traveling northeast on Fabyan Parkway and the other traveling southwest.

Two passengers, who appeared to be men in their 20s, were pulled out of one vehicle, the fire district said. One was found dead at the scene, and the other was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield and died there from his injuries.

The boy and an adult relative were in the other vehicle. Both were taken to Central DuPage Hospital. Their conditions were unavailable Friday night.

The DuPage County coroner's office confirmed that two had died in the crash and said West Chicago police and the DuPage County sheriff's department were investigating. The coroner's office said more information would be released Saturday.
