Police seize $15,000 in drugs from Fox River Grove brothers

Two Fox River Grove brothers face charges related to the possession of roughly $15,000 worth of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

The arrests were a culmination of a monthlong investigation that began after authorities said they received multiple tips from the community concerned about possible criminal activity at the brothers' home in the 400 block of Algonquin Road.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Task Force - including members of Lake in the Hills Police Department - and the United States Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Task Force searched the home last week after detectives made undercover purchases of marijuana from Samuel Cassidy, 24.

Samuel and his brother, Caleb Cassidy, 28, were taken into custody and detectives seized 756.3 grams of cannabis, packaging material, a scale, eight Alprazolam pills and $1,895. The street value of the drugs seized is estimated to be roughly $15,000.

Samuel Cassidy faces eight drug-related charges and Caleb Cassidy faces three charges, authorities said.

Their next court date is not known.

People are encouraged to report suspected drug dealing and other suspicious activity to the McHenry County sheriff's office at (815) 338-2144 or by anonymously tipping Crime Stoppers of McHenry County at (800) 762-7867.
