Elgin man charged with burglarizing vehicle

A 55-year-old Elgin man remained at the Kane County jail Tuesday after police say they found him with items reportedly stolen from a vehicle in the area.

Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to Walnut and Wilcox Avenues for a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. During a search of the area, police found Bradley Landweher, of the 800 block of Erie Street, with a number of the items reported stolen, authorities said. He has been charged with burglary to a motor vehicle, Elgin police posted to Facebook. The charge is typically punishable by three to seven years in prison.

His bond has been set at $15,000.

Police were not immediately available to comment on further details or to the total value of the items.

Landweher is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
