Streamwood motorcycle crash victim remains in serious condition

A Streamwood man was seriously injured Sunday when the motorcycle he was driving hit an SUV in Streamwood, authorities said.

Vincent Korpalski, 19, was driving his Suzuki motorcycle south on Sutton Road about 11:30 a.m. when it struck the Kia, whose driver was attempting to turn north on Sutton Road, according to Streamwood police.

Korpalski was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries, authorities said. He was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

His condition remained the same Monday morning, Deputy Chief Daryl Syre said. Korpalski was wearing a helmet, Syre added.

The Streamwood Police Department and the Serious Traffic Crash Reconstruction team are investigating the crash. Authorities have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Korpalski's friends created a GoFundMe account at https://www.gofundme.com/BringVinceHome to raise money to help pay his medical costs.
