Former assistant pastor of Streamwood parish dies

The Rev. James Francis Moriarty, a former assistant pastor at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Streamwood during the 1960s, died Feb. 8.

Moriarty, 91, was pastor emeritus of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Evanston.

He served as assistant pastor at St. John the Evangelist from 1963 to 1970. In 1989, Moriarty was named pastor of St. Joan of Arc and served there until his retirement in 1995.

He will lie in state from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 111th St., Chicago Ridge. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Most Holy Redeemer Parish, 9525 S. Lawndale Ave., Evergreen Park.
