Former longtime Des Plaines alderman Kisslinger dies, family says

Dan Kisslinger, a longtime Des Plaines alderman, died Jan. 28 in Columbus, Ohio, family members said. He was 92.

Kisslinger served as 4th Ward alderman during three decades, from 1971 to 1989 and 1993 to 1995. In 2001, he was recognized for his commitment to community service with the city's "Citizen Sergeant Award."

Kisslinger's family said he died unexpectedly without any pain or suffering.

The Daily Herald interviewed Kisslinger in 1995, after he retired from public office. When Kisslinger - who had just survived a white water rafting trip down a dangerous West Virginia river at age 70 - was asked whether he missed the commotion of testy city council meetings he responded, "No, not really. I'm filling my time very well."
