FBI investigating bank robbery in Gurnee

FBI agents and Gurnee police are investigating a bank robbery reported Tuesday morning in the village.

Authorities said the robbery took place about 8:59 a.m. at NorStates Bank, 5384 Grand Ave.

Images of the suspected bandit and a physical description have been released by the FBI. The robber was described as a white man in his 30s, with blue eyes, and about 6 feet tall with a slim build.

During the robbery, the man had his head covered and was wearing black-framed, square-shaped prescription glasses, a dark "beanie" hat, dark button-style coat, blue jeans with holes or a large tear in the knees and gloves, according to the FBI.

Three Gurnee police vehicles were in the parking lot of the bank, located across the street from Six Flags Great America and just east of the Tri-State Tollway, late Tuesday morning. A sign was posted on the main entrance informing customers the bank was closed.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to call the FBI's Chicago office at (312) 421-6700.
