Prospect Heights library screening Cook County forest preserve film

The Prospect Heights Public Library is hosting a program and documentary film screening this week about Cook County's forest preserves.

"Chicago's True Nature: The Forest Preserves of Cook County" will be screened at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the library, 12 N. Elm St.

John McCabe, director of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County's department of resource management, and Kristin DaPra, stewardship aid, will take questions after the film

The hourlong documentary captures the sights and sounds within the forest preserve as it marked its 100th anniversary in 2015. Audiences will learn about the benefits of nature, the effects of open land to our quality of life and the future of the forest preserve.
