New bank, gym, doughnut shop planned in Rolling Meadows

A host of new businesses are planning to open in the coming months in Rolling Meadows, including a bank, fitness center and combination Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin-Robbins.

Village Bank & Trust, which has nine branches throughout the Northwest suburbs and is part of the Wintrust network, is proposing to locate a drive-through bank at 1635 Algonquin Road.

The bank would occupy more than 2,200 square feet of space on the east side of a strip mall building, bringing the building with seven storefronts to full occupancy. The one-way, southbound drive-through lane would offer teller and ATM service.

Wintrust is expected to replace and enlarge a free-standing sign listing all businesses in the building, and add signage to three sides of the building. The matter was before the city council Tuesday night on first reading, and if the project is given final approval, plans are to complete renovations by early June. The site had been home to an AT&T store for 15 years.

Nearby, Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin-Robbins is proposing to open a location inside the shuttered Bowl House restaurant at 1921 Algonquin Road. The facility would include a drive-through, outdoor seating, a general meeting area and three conference rooms, according to Valerie Dehner, the city's community development director.

The developer is meeting with residents of the nearby Saratoga Condominiums about their concerns. The project is scheduled to be back before the city plan commission on Feb. 7.

At the Rolling Meadows Shopping Center, a 24-hour Anytime Fitness is planned for 3256-3260 Kirchoff Road inside part of a space formerly occupied by the post office that closed in 2012. The other part of the new 4,600-square-foot health club will include the space occupied by an existing travel agency, which is relocating, Dehner said.

That project will also be heard at the Feb. 7 plan commission meeting.
