Screens keep shoppers informed at Geneva Commons

If you're shopping at Geneva Commons along the Randall Road corridor, you may notice new, lighted electronic screens broadcasting throughout the mall.

Now atop the mall's signature bell tower are giant digital screens, which went up in early December.

Since then, the screens have started broadcasting special store offers and other news for Geneva Commons shoppers.

When the weather warms, the screens will have another use. Starting in the spring, Geneva Commons will be hosting movie nights.

Guests at Geneva Commons are used to gathering near the mall's bell tower in the summer months for free, outdoor, family-friendly concerts. Now the community will be invited to the commons area for more reasons.

During the warmer months, the screens will be showing free, family-friendly movies. As the weather warms, stay tuned for more details.

Shopping contest:

The Algonquin Commons mall, also along the Randall Road corridor, is holding a scavenger hunt shopping contest throughout the winter months.

Each week the mall will be releasing clues for the "I Found It At AC" contest.

The clues will lead shoppers to different stores throughout the mall, where they will find various items to take photos of to post on social media with the hashtag #ifounditatAC.

For example, last week's clue asked shoppers if they had a rewards card with some of the stores at the mall, including a Dick's Score Card or a Hallmark Gold Crown member card.

If shoppers had one, they were to post a picture of them using their card - minus the card numbers - on Facebook.

The week before shoppers were asked to find four brands of boots sold at Shoelace Inc. to find out how they could get a free keychain at the store.

The I Found It at AC contest is aimed at bringing shoppers into the various stores throughout the mall and bringing a little fun to the winter months.

Those who participate will have a chance to win a gift card to the mall. The more clues shoppers solve, the higher number of points they will get and the better chance they will have to win a gift card. The top gift card prize is $500. Second prize is a $250 and third prize is $100.

There also will be six consolation prizes of $25 awarded.

The final winners of the contests will be tallied and the gift cards will be awarded in March.
