Arlington Heights funds bike path with Rolling Meadows

Arlington Heights has approved its end of a cost-sharing agreement for a new bike path on Euclid Avenue near the Arlington Downs development.

Trustees on Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution to spend $90,500 on the bike path, which would be on the north side of Euclid, between Rohlwing Road and Salt Creek Lane. The village would use park land contribution funds previously collected from the Arlington Downs developer.

Rolling Meadows' city council last week voted 4-2 to spend the same amount. The city secured a $691,260 federal grant in 2014 to pay most of the project costs.

Both towns have already spent $5,575 each on preliminary engineering. Construction is expected to begin in October and be complete by July 2018.
