'Reclaiming Your Life' theme of January 14 Apple User Group Program in Schaumburg

"Dealing with the Paper (Still) in Your Life" leads off the January 14, 2017 'Reclaiming Your Life' themed program for Suburban Chicago Apple Users at 9 a.m. in Schaumburg. Presenters Ed and Becky Booth will share the proven filing system they've used over 25 years, and have adapted to take advantage of electronic tools which did not exist when the system was created.

They will also share how to expand the system's use beyond paper items to the storage boxes and other items piled in the basement, garage, or offsite storage. "Non-Apple and even non-computer users can implement the methods involved," according to Booth.

"There are many pro's of using computers and iOS devices to save trees and work with electronic documents" says Booth. "However, there are also compelling reasons to take adoption of 'going paperless' gradually. Yet while we're deciding which approach to take, paper piles throughout our homes and offices grow deeper!

"We will share a trusted system to deal with the important paper (still) in our lives-to safeguard the irreplaceable and find it quickly. This system is easy to set up and explain to others. It avoids messy relabeling and alphabetizing issues, and it is reliable for easily finding needed items. The system's user can clear the dreaded paper piles or bulging file folders, giving both short-term and long-term mastery at last," asserts Booth.

Continuing the 'Reclaiming Your Life!' theme at 10 a.m., productivity expert, speaker and author Mike Schmitz will present "Choosing & Using the Right Task Manager for You". Booth notes that if weather is inclement, Schmitz will join the group virtually from his home in Appleton, WI.

Schmitz will present an overview of productivity and task management with a trusted system, focusing on tools already in Apple's macOS and iOS, plus a few more tools that go beyond the limitations of Apple's Reminders. He will discuss features and benefits to consider when choosing a system-factors such as ease of use, cost, updating reliability, individual or team use, etc.

The program will also include Mac trainer and computer consultant Bill Geraci presenting "Activity Monitor, A Utility on Your Mac" and Mac Q&A.

Suburban Chicago Apple Users presents monthly programs thru June at 1061 American Way, directly west of Woodfield Mall, in the American Society of Anesthesiologists auditorium. For more information see myscau.org.
