Fremd High School Music Department donates food to Palatine Township Food Pantry

Band, Choir, and Orchestra families combine to donate food items at winter concerts

Submitted by Matthew Moore

This past December the William Fremd High School Band, Orchestra, and Choir programs combined to assist the Palatine Township Food Pantry through a food drive to benefit local families in need. The Music Department asked their music families to donate canned or non-perishable food items for "admission" to their three winter concerts held in late December. The drive was extremely successful with twenty boxes of food being donated to the cause.

The Fremd Band program had successful December food drives both in 2014 and 2015, held in conjunction with their Winter Band Concerts. This year the FHS Music teachers (Matthew Moore, Marla Caballero, Christina Collins, Jeremy Figlewicz, and JT Teichert) combined their efforts to make the food drive available at all three concerts.

Music Department Chair Matthew Moore added, "We were very proud to see the amount of food donated by our Band, Choir, and Orchestra families to assist the Palatine Food Pantry and local families. The success of the food drive added to our winter concerts, while also showing a lot of generosity and spirit of the season".
