Fire displaces Round Lake family

A Round Lake family was left without a home Tuesday after a garage fire spread to an attached two-story house on the 300 block of West Biros Lane.

Three people were home when the fire broke out. Paramedics treated one man at the scene, Round Lake police Sgt. Nicole Cheney said.

Authorities responded about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. At least five surrounding departments were called to assist. Firefighters and police remained on the scene until about 9 p.m.

The family declined Red Cross assistance, Cheney said.

Although representatives from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District were not immediately available to comment on the cause of the fire or extent of the damage, Wolf said both the house and garage were engulfed in flames.
