Des Plaines police investigating arson to car
Des Plaines police are investigating the arson of a car set on fire shortly after midnight Thursday outside a city apartment building.
According to a police report, the offender used an unknown accelerant to set ablaze a Honda Accord in a parking lot at 160 Northwest Highway between 12:10 and 12:15 a.m. Thursday.
A discarded plastic soda bottle was discovered in the area and appeared to contain some type of accelerant, a report states.
The car's owner was in her residence when she heard a loud "pop" noise coming from the parking lot, police said. When she looked out a window, she saw two unknown men walking away from the vehicle and then saw a white sedan leave the parking lot.
