Littelfuse redevelopment to start Friday in Des Plaines

Crews will break ground Friday morning on a $90 million residential redevelopment of the former Littelfuse industrial site in Des Plaines.

A ceremony with city officials and representatives of developer Buckingham Properties is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Friday, at the construction site of Buckingham Place, 800 E. Northwest Hwy.

Plans call for construction of 24 townhouse buildings with 127 units and a 5-story, 270-unit apartment building on a property that's been vacant since Littelfuse, an electrical manufacturer, relocated in 2008. First townhouses are expected to be complete by next spring, though the entire project could take 3½ years to complete.
