Tree sales benefit Tri-Town YMCA programs
When does a Christmas tree spread joy well beyond the holidays? When it's a Tri-Town YMCA Christmas tree.
Tri-Town Christmas trees sold through Saturday, Dec. 24, are giving trees that make a difference year round. All proceeds from Christmas trees purchased from Tri-Town YMCA will benefit youth, senior and family programs, like stamping out hunger in the after-school programs by partnering with Northern Illinois Food Bank to provide nutritious meals.
The tree sale also allows Tri-Town to address growing educational needs. The money generated from selling trees enables the organization to bring into the classroom additional lessons devoted to science, technology, engineering and math.
"It's a win-win holiday scenario," said Joanne Mitrenga, Tri-Town's executive director. "Families can purchase beautiful Christmas trees knowing that they are helping many people in the community enjoy better lives. It has become a wonderful tradition for many."
Tri-Town's annual Christmas Tree Sale is in the Lombard Dairy Queen parking lot, 205 S. Main St. Lot hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
