Secondary Teacher of the Year

Erik McNeill

The Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD) has awarded Erik McNeill as the Secondary Teacher of the Year for the State of Illinois. This award is given in recognition of outstanding instructional performance at the high school level while showing great ability to motivate today's youth using current pedagogy strategies. Erik was presented this award at the State Convention in St. Charles at Pheasant Run Resort. Currently in his 21st year at Maine West High School, Erik also serves the role of Instructional Coach, Senior Leader Supervisor, Peer-Coach Supervisor and Assistant Athletic Director. In October, Erik was also recognized as the Northeastern District Teacher of the Year at the Fall Banquet in Oakbrook, Illinois.
