No more room for do-nothing Congress

While we witness the outrage of protesters who are repulsed by the election of Donald Trump and as our allies voice their opinion that the next U.S. president will cease to be the most respected leader of the world, there are many who are celebrating the Republican election victories.

Some of those who are joyous that Donald Trump and his cadre of bullies will lead our country for the next four years: the KKK and white supremacists, ISIS, the dictatorial leaders of Russia, Syria and the Philippines, cowardly Republican leaders who put their party before their country, the NRA, shareholders and lobbyists of pharmaceutical, insurance and financial services industries, those who believe climate change is a hoax, Evangelicals who apparently believe a genital grabbing, insult hurling, Trump University scamming adulterer serving as our president is a fine example for their children, racists, bigots, sexual predators, and those who believe females are not deserving of equal pay for equal work and are incapable of making choices regarding their health. These are the people who are celebrating a Trump presidency.

For those who fear the principles on which our country was founded are forever gone - all is not lost. We citizens must make our voices heard by writing, calling and confronting our Congressional representatives. If we constituents inundate our representatives with demands to take action on the issues most important to our nation's secure and healthy future, the Republican Congress will soon realize they can no longer pander to lobbyists and billionaires while ignoring the desires of voters. We must do our part and speak out. We voters must become informed and proactive and hold our representatives accountable. Let them know we are watching and waiting for productive, constructive change and that we'll no longer accept a do-nothing Congress.
