Martha Garmon of Palatine a Cook of the Week Challenge finalist

Martha Garmon was one of four finalists in the Daily Herald's Cook of the Week Challenge competing live on Nov. 1.

Age: 54

Occupation: Minister of worship and music

Interests: Garmon calls herself a recovering cookbook junkie and a "misplaced Texan" leaning toward southern flavors. She and her husband once spent a week in Italy cooking in a castle.

Faced: Alexandra Zades in Round 1 and Christina Anderson-Heller in Round 2.

Round 1 ingredients: Tilapia, scallions, cauliflower and turmeric.

Round 2 ingredients: Salmon, white miso, soba noodles and eggplant.
