Teen hospitalized after being hit by car in Lake Villa

A teenage boy was injured when he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Lake Villa, authorities said.

Lake Villa police were called to the intersection of Grass Lake Road and Oakland Drive at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday for a report of an accident, officials said in a news release. Officers arrived and found a 15-year-old boy unconscious in the roadway, authorities said.

Witnesses said the boy appeared to be crossing the roadway when he was hit by the car, authorities said.

He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He remains in stable condition, authorities said.

The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police, authorities said.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is investigating the accident.
