Holiday Toy and Book Drive

Park Ridge, IL - The Women's Physician Group of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and Advocate Children's Hospital - Park Ridge will be hosting the fifth annual Holiday Toy and Book Drive on Wednesday, December 21 from 9am-7pm. This is the fifth year the Women's Physician Group is partnering with the Child Life Program to organize this annual, fun event.

The team of certified child life specialists, who are specially trained to use play and other forms of communication to help parents and their child positively cope with hospitalization and medical procedures, would like to give a special holiday gift to those hospitalized over the holidays. Certified child life specialists use play to distract the patient and reduce stress associated with different health care experiences. Donated toys (no stuffed animals, please), books, gift cards, DVDs, and other gifts will be used not only during the holiday season, but also throughout the year.

The event will be held at 1675 Dempster Street in Park Ridge at the Advocate Children's Hospital Outpatient Center - Yacktman Pavilion. Free parking is available at the West Garage (southwest corner of Dempster and Luther Lane), as well as North Surface Lot (adjacent to North Garage). Free shuttle to the hospital is available.

For information, call 1. 847.723.7529. For more information please check out the Holiday Donations page.

If you cannot make your donation on the 21st, you can stop by one of our information desks and drop off your donation in the designated toy drive boxes.

The Women's Physician Group was a grassroots concept born out of feedback received from many female health care providers searching for a venue to come together to network, lend support to a variety of worthwhile causes and familiarize one another with other medical professionals. The Group, established in 2011, provides a supportive and nurturing environment with opportunities for women to engage in mentoring, community outreach and education, philanthropy and research.
