Girls cross country: Grant's Osmon grabs 14th place in Class 3A

PEORIA - Grant sophomore Danielle Osmon completed an impressive season by finishing in 14th place in Saturday's Class 3A girls cross country state meet, crossing the line in 17:05 at Detweiller Park.

Osmon finished 58th at the previous year's Class 3A race, but she turned it up a notch in her second state meet race Saturday.

"It's really exciting," said Osmon of her first state medal. "I know I do better when I go out with the leaders, then just try and hang on."

Grant sophomore Eva Cardy (17:23) just missed a state medal, finishing in 26th place. She combined with Osmon to leading the Bulldogs' to 20th-place team finish.

Junior Isabella Sparreo (17:39) secured a 41st-place finish in leading Stevenson to a 19th-place team finish.

Glenbard West freshman Katelynne Hart cruised to the Class 3A individual title in 16:31, followed by junior teammate Lindsay Payne (16:34).

Naperville North ran to the Class 3A team title with 111 points, followed by Yorkville (130 points) and defending Class 3A champion Minooka (134 points).
