Campton Hills man faces child rape charges

A 40-year-old Campton Hills man has been charged with raping a girl younger than 13 over a three-year span.

Donald R. Lumbert, of the 4N700 block of Brookside Drive, faces five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13 and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to Kane County court records.

Lumbert is accused of assaulting the girl he knew from July 9, 2013, through the "present," court records show.

Lumbert was arrested Saturday.

According to Kane County court records, Lumbert's only previous arrests came in summer 2010 when he was accused of violating an order of protection that was issued by St. Charles police June 8, 2010.

Lumbert was accused of texting a woman in the order of protection three times when he had been ordered to have no contact with her.

He eventually pleaded to the misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to court supervision and issued $470 in court fines and fees, records show.

Lumbert was being held on $750,000 bail, meaning he must post $75,000 to be released while the case is pending.

If Lumbert does post bond, he is to have no contact with the girl and stay at least 500 feet away from an Aurora residence.

If convicted of all felony counts and issued consecutive sentences, Lumbert faces between 42 and 178 years in prison and lifetime registration as a sex offender.

He is next due in court Nov. 18.
