Huntley High student charged with child porn dissemination

A Huntley High School student accused of sharing nude photos of his girlfriend on social media has been charged with disseminating and possessing child pornography.

Huntley Deputy Police Chief Michael Klunk said the 14-year-old boy received nude photos from his 14-year-old girlfriend and showed them to classmates on a social media site.

The boy, a resident of Lake in the Hills, was charged Oct. 17 at the police station and released to his father. He will be petitioned in McHenry County Juvenile Court.

Klunk said it's likely the court will require counseling for the teen and that the charges will eventually be expunged from his record because he's a juvenile.

Other teens, both male and female, can learn a lesson from this case, Klunk said.

"We want (teens) to understand the seriousness of this," he said. "They think it's a fun kind of a thing, and don't think of the consequence that go with it. Those pictures are out there forever now. It's important for consequences to be taken so it stops the behavior, or at least there's a thought process by other kids who might think about doing this."
