Homeless man accused in death of North Chicago man

A homeless man has been charged with murder for gunning down a North Chicago man in a Waukegan alley, authorities said Tuesday.

Undra Bailey, 30, is held in the Lake County jail for shooting John Collins, 28, in the 800 block of South Jackson Street at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Waukegan officers were called to the rear alley for a shooting, where they found Collins unresponsive. He was taken to Vista Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

After an investigation, Waukegan detectives determined the shooting resulted from an argument between the Collins and Bailey.

Bailey was taken into custody without incident Monday near routes 137 and 41 in North Chicago. Bailey was charged with two counts of murder after his arrest. He is due back in Lake County court Nov. 17.
