No-show board member, go home
Leadership is the ability of an individual or organization to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams or entire organizations. This includes all aspects, but none more critical than leading by example. How can one want to lead, if they are rarely there?
As an example, Mike Walkup, candidate for county board chairman and a vocal opponent to critical infrastructure improvements has reportedly skipped county board meetings when votes were taken on this critical matter and did not cast a vote. If this were the first time, one might understand, but reports indicate that Walkup was removed from a county board committee for rarely being there.
We need leaders who lead. Perhaps Mr. Walkup should take his self-appointed, full-time county pension, part-time county work and go home.
