Tour Reigate Woods restoration

Green Oaks is hosting a Stewardship Day at Lake Kathryn Park with sessions from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23. Visitors of all ages can tour the 12-acre Reigate Woods restoration area, learn how to gather seeds from coneflowers and other native plants, collect acorns and learn how to identify the ones that will germinate into trees, and participate in hands-on removal of buckthorn and other invasive plant. There will be nature crafts for kids and community service certificates available for students. Visitors can reach the location by taking Sage Court north from Route 137 just east of the village hall on O'Plaine Road. Contact Bryan Muskat at bryan.muskat@greenoaks.org.
