High schools: Mundelein's White nets Wendy's Heisman scholarship

Mundelein senior Tyler White was named one of two winners from Illinois for the Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship.

White and Hannah Daab of New Athens High School in New Athens "showed unrivaled dedication to never cutting corners," according to Wendy's. As a testament to its commitment to education, Wendy's High School Heisman, for the first time in its history, will award state winners with a $1,000 college scholarship in addition to a silver medal, a Wendy's High School Heisman State Winner patch and a $50 Wendy's gift card.

Antioch senior Amy Reiser was also one of 20 finalists from the state.

White was a four-year member of Mundelein's varsity golf team and helped the Mustangs advance downstate for the first time in their history this fall. He and Daab will compete against 100 other state winners across the country for a chance to be chosen as one of 10 national finalists. The national finalist will then go on to be considered for the national winner title in New York City that will be announced on Dec. 9.
