New playground at South Elementary in Des Plaines
South Elementary School in Des Plaines will dedicate a new playground on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The original playground structure was more than 25 years old. Des Plaines Elementary District 62 got a $43,505 grant from Rivers Casino to help pay for a new one.
"We believe that a new structure would not only help meet the physical, social and sensory needs of our students, but also provide a gathering place and safe haven for families and children throughout the community," Principal Amy Cengel said in a news release.
The dedication is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the school, 1535 Everett Ave.
